I need a gift suggestion for two nephews ages 6 and 12. Have everything children could want so hard to buy for. Don’t want to just give an Itunes gift card — would like to spend around $40 each and can be a combined gift for the two. They are sports fans, do have Xbox but don’t need any games. One has an ipod the other does not. Thanks!
Hi Junda,
Have you thought about going old school and instead of providing them with the latest and greatest, go back to the old classics – Erector Set
for the older one and possibly a Hot Wheels Play Set
for the little guy?
If those don’t do it for you, a themed gift, like watches for both of them can be great and age appropriate. Take a look at this one for the older guy Timex Boys Camo Watch
and this ever cool Timex Digital watch for the 6yo (though I’m sure they’ll both be switching off periodically!) Maybe the same watch for both of them to keep it even simpler and avoid the arguments. Here’s what Timex says about this Kid’s version of their Ironman watch: “IronKids digital watch is the junior version of Timex’s vaunted IronMan performance sport watch, and it features a tough, durable case and easy-to-use timekeeping functions for your active youngster. It has an easily readable digital display with large, recognizable icons for the chrono, alarm, and timer functions, and a durable nylon Fast Wrap strap (with Velcro fastener). It also offers water resistance to 50 meters (165 feet), 12/24-hour time, day and date feature, translucent silver resin case, large, black function buttons, and Timex’s unique Kids Loss Protection Plan. It’s recommended for children ages 6 and older.” And here’s the link… Times Kid’s Ironman Watch
Good luck!

1. My dad is a hunter
2. My dad is 57 years old
3. My dad is very outdoorsy.
I would like to spend between 50-100 dollars.
Hi Sophie,
I know just the thing your dad would love to wear those cold mornings that he’s out hunting – best part is, no one knows he’s wearing them but him.

Find something for my brother! He’s a 34 year old lawyer in suburban Ohio, first time father to a 2 month old girl, loves golf and recently starting cycling. He’s also a big history buff. Budget $100-200.
Thanks!
Sounds like your brother is one BUSY guy. Here are something new that I really love as well a couple of gifts I previously recommended for another ‘lawyer sister’…
Considering he and his beloved must be crazy busy with the baby, he must be nuts with the career and needless to say, golfing leaves little time for heading out to sea to check the lobster traps in that landlocked state, this may be just the thing you can splurge on for him – wonder if he’ll share with his wife!

I said it before, I’ll say it here again – I LOVE these personal viewing shades. Whether you’rw on a plane, waiting for a train or just trying to make it through the day, plug into an ipod and pop on this ‘personal viewing device’ and immerse yourself in your own movieland. I promise you he’ll be the coolest lawyer dad golfer on the block.

Ok – I’ll give it a try. I can use all the help I can get.
1. Gay, single brother in early 30s.
2. Brand new middle management type job at a small office that he’s excited about. Likes learning about everyday cars (not race cars). Relatively frugal with money. Lives just outside NYC in NJ in a condo apartment he just bought, which could probably use something, but I don’t know what. Never cooks.
3. $100-$200
Hi Elana,
Have some ideas that are in your price range… you say he likes learning about cars. Does he own one?

Does he already have an Ipod? I bet he doesn’t have this: Myvu Personal Media Viewer

Well, here we are again, trying to cram the bulk of the year’s gift buying into a few short weeks. As the end of the year rushes towards us, ready to smack us in the face with New Year’s hats and tiny hotdogs, let’s avoid the usual last minute panic and start that whole holiday shopping thing now, instead of on December 23rd.
Are you just stuck? Well, that’s what I’m here for. You know that. (more…)
